OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION

Wantagh Little League should be more than a place where children play baseball and softball. It should be a cornerstone of our community—where young athletes develop skills, build friendships, learn sportsmanship, and create memories that last a lifetime.

Save Wantagh Little League is an independent, community-driven initiative dedicated to restoring transparency, accountability, fairness, and confidence in the leadership and operation of Wantagh Little League.

We believe the league exists to serve its players, families, coaches, and volunteers. Its success should be measured not only by wins, championships, or registration numbers, but also by the experiences of the children who participate and the trust of the families who support them.

Every parent deserves to be heard. Every volunteer deserves to be respected. Every coach deserves clear and consistent expectations. And every child deserves a positive environment where their development and enjoyment of the game come before adult disagreements and organizational politics.

Our mission is to bring concerned community members together to advocate for meaningful governance reform, responsible leadership, and a Little League that puts children first.

We are not seeking to diminish Wantagh Little League’s history or accomplishments. We are working to protect its future.

WHY THIS MOVEMENT EXISTS

WHY THIS MOVEMENT EXISTS

Save Wantagh Little League was born from growing concerns about how our league is governed, how decisions are made, and whether the voices of parents, coaches, and volunteers are being adequately heard.

Questions surrounding leadership accountability, communication, transparency, fairness, and community participation have led us to examine whether the league’s current approach to governance is meeting the expectations of the families it serves.

We believe these concerns deserve more than silence or assurances. They deserve open communication, meaningful examination, and a willingness to make changes where necessary.

A Little League cannot maintain the confidence of its community without leadership that is willing to listen, answer questions, and be accountable for its decisions.

Our purpose is not to undermine the accomplishments of Wantagh’s players, coaches, and volunteers. It is to advocate for a governance structure that supports those accomplishments and strengthens the organization for future generations.

Where existing leadership practices fall short of these principles, we believe meaningful reform—including changes in leadership through appropriate governance procedures—must be part of the conversation.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

WHAT WE STAND FOR

COMMUNITY-DRIVEN LEADERSHIP

League leadership should be accessible, responsive, transparent, and accountable to the families and volunteers who make the organization possible.

Parents and eligible league members should understand how directors are elected, how leadership decisions are made, and how they can participate in governance.

We support meaningful membership participation, transparent elections, and leadership that earns the community’s confidence through its actions.

TRANSPARENCY AND OPEN COMMUNICATION

Families should not have to struggle to obtain basic information about the organization they support.

We believe governing documents, membership procedures, election information, league policies, and appropriate financial information should be accessible through clear and consistent processes.

Questions and concerns deserve acknowledgment, consideration, and timely responses.

FAIRNESS AND CONSISTENCY

Every player, coach, volunteer, and family deserves fair and respectful treatment.

League rules, disciplinary procedures, team selection practices, and administrative decisions should be applied consistently and without favoritism.

We support clear expectations, impartial review of complaints, and fair procedures that protect everyone involved.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBLE GOVERNANCE

We advocate for documented policies, defined board responsibilities, appropriate oversight, accessible avenues for raising concerns, and effective mechanisms for addressing problems.

Board members and officers should be held to clear standards of conduct, responsiveness, and accountability.

PUTTING CHILDREN FIRST

The children are the reason Wantagh Little League exists.

Their development, safety, enjoyment, sportsmanship, and opportunities to participate should guide every important league decision.

Adult disagreements should never overshadow the experiences of the children entrusted to the league.

MEANINGFUL CHANGE REQUIRES ACCOUNTABLE LEADERSHIP

MEANINGFUL CHANGE REQUIRES ACCOUNTABLE LEADERSHIP

We believe meaningful reform must include a willingness to examine not only league policies and procedures, but also the effectiveness and accountability of those responsible for administering them.

LEADERSHIP POSITIONS ARE RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE COMMUNITY—NOT PERMANENT ENTITLEMENTS.

We support properly conducted membership elections, transparent board governance, and fair procedures through which eligible members can participate in selecting the individuals entrusted with leading Wantagh Little League.

Where existing leadership no longer earns the confidence of the community, there must be legitimate and accessible mechanisms to pursue leadership changes consistent with the league’s governing documents and applicable requirements.

Our objective is not simply to change names or titles. It is to establish a culture of responsible leadership, openness, fairness, and accountability that continues long after any individual board member’s tenure.

A BETTER FUTURE STARTS WITH OUR COMMUNITY

A BETTER FUTURE STARTS WITH OUR COMMUNITY

Wantagh Little League has a history worth celebrating and a future worth protecting.

Meaningful improvement requires parents, coaches, volunteers, and community members willing to participate constructively, ask important questions, share ideas, and help strengthen the organization.

We welcome those who believe the league can become more transparent, more accountable, more responsive, and more focused on its children.

This movement is about protecting everything that makes youth baseball and softball special while working to improve the organization responsible for providing those experiences.

OUR KIDS. OUR COMMUNITY. THEIR FUTURE.
